Re:

National Officer Election Protest

On August 8, 2016, the National Officer Election concluded and the results were posted, which allowed for a ten-day protest period per the Constitution (Article VII, Section 10).  The National Director received multiple protests within the proper timeframe.  The National Executive Council (NEC) is now tasked with completing an investigation, and ultimately a determination on the validity of the submitted protests.

The NEC officers whose positions are not being contested will handle the investigation.  They may receive guidance from legal and/or the U.S. Department of Labor as needed.  Once their investigation is complete, they will present it to the NEC to determine if the protest is valid or invalid, and if the election is to be re-run or upheld.  Per the Constitution (Article VII, Section 10): “Any current National Executive Council member who ran for the contested position shall abstain from voting.”

Thank you for your patience as this is accomplished per our Constitution and with all due diligence.  We will notify you once the process has been completed.

On Behalf of the NEC,

Justin Madden
National Secretary/Treasurer
